FINANCIAL SUPPORT VIA MUTUAL EXCHANGE AGREEMENTS

We attach the list of universities (Exchange.pdf) which have an exchange agreement with Jagiellonian University. If you find your university on the list, you may apply for financial support. In order for the application to be accepted by Jagiellonian University you should put the name Jan Stochel (and/or Dariusz Cichon) as an inviting person and let us know about that.

9.XII.2009 | First announcement

Dear Colleagues,

The conference "Functions and Operators" (FaO2010) will take place in Krakow (Poland) between June 21 and June 25, 2010. During the conference we intend to celebrate professor Franciszek Hugon Szafraniec's 70th birthday. The conference is organized by Institute of Mathematics, Jagiellonian University (Krakow, Poland).

The main topics of the conference include:

  • functions (reproducing kernel Hilbert spaces, orthogonal polynomials, special functions etc.),
  • operators (bounded and unbounded operators with dilation theory in particular, operator algebras and semigroups etc.),
  • interconnected topics (positive definite functions, moment problems, commutative and non-commutative harmonic analysis, mathematical physics etc.)

REGISTRATION

All participants will be asked to register filling up the registration form (including the title of a talk) which will be sent with the next announcement in the beginning of 2010. We ask you however to let us know as soon as possible whether you are willing to attend the conference by sending an e-mail at: fao2010@im.uj.edu.pl, so that we can include your e-mail address in the mailing list.

PLENARY SPEAKERS

Lecture days start on June 21 and last until June 25, 2010. There will be two sessions: morning and afternoon. Depending on the number of registered participants, parallel sections will be organized. The lectures will take place at the building of Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science of Jagiellonian University (address: Lojasiewicza 6, 30-348 Krakow, Poland).

FEE

We are trying to reduce the conference fee by applying for the financial support from a few sources. The exact sum of fee will be given in the next announcement.

HOTELS

The participants are asked to make a hotel reservation individually. We suggest the hotels which offer a lower price for participants of the FaO conference. The list of hotels together with a detailed information is attached to this e-mail.

WEB PAGE

The web page devoted to the FaO conference can be found at http://www.im.uj.edu.pl/fao2010. It contains (continuously updated) information on the conference including a list of tentative participants and the web links to hotels.

ADDITIONAL REMARKS

Those of you who need to have a formal invitation in order to apply for a visa (or other issues) are asked to send us the request.

Sincerely,
Jan Stochel (on behalf of the organizing committee)

30.IX.2009 | Initial announcement

It is our pleasure to inform you that we are planning to organize a conference "Functions and Operators" (FaO2010), which will take place in Krakow (Poland) in the week starting on June 21, 2010. During the conference we intend to celebrate Professor Franciszek Hugon Szafraniec's 70th birthday. Exact number of conference days will be adjusted to the expected number of participants as well as to other organizing issues.

The main topics of the conference include: functions (reproducing kernel Hilbert spaces, orthogonal polynomials, special functions etc.), operators (bounded and unbounded operators with dilation theory in particular, operator algebras and semigroups), interconnected topics (positive definite functions, moment problems, commutative and non-commutative harmonic analysis) as well as any related ones.

We kindly ask you to let us know as soon as possible whether you are willing to attend the conference by sending an e-mail at: fao2010@im.uj.edu.pl This will help us to give stability to the mailing list as we expect to distribute the next announcement in early autumn 2009. It will contain in particular hotel information as well as financial matters.

Please feel free to pass this announcement to anyone who you think is missing on the list and may be interested in attending. Let us call your attention to another conference which follows the present one. Look at http://www.math.wm.edu/~ckli/wonra10.html

Best regards, Jan Stochel (on behalf of the organizing committee)
