Abstrakt: Teoria granic grafowych dostarcza analitycznego opisu dużych grafów, które s± często wykorzystywane do modelowania interesuj±cych struktur i zjawisk zachodz±cych w ¶wiecie, na przykład internetu, sieci społeczno¶ciowych, neuronów w mózgu, czy oddziaływań między cz±steczkami. Teoria ta okazała się także niezwykle użyteczna w rozwi±zywaniu problemów w teorii grafów. Na wykładzie zaprezentowane zostan± postawy teorii granic ci±gów grafów gęstych i najważniejsze własno¶ci analitycznej reprezentacji granicy - tzw. grafonu. Przedstawione zostan± także niektóre autorskie zastosowania w teorii grafów. Abstract: The fundamental objective of the theory of Diophantine approximation is to answer the question: ˙˙How well can a real number be approximated by rationals?˙˙ In this context, the theory of continued fractions provides a quick and efficient method for finding good rational approximations to irrational numbers. In this talk, I will first discuss the relationship between Diophantine approximation and continued fractions. Starting with Dirichlet's theorem (1842), which gives a fundamental rate of approximation for irrational numbers by rationals, I will then discuss the abundance of results that generalize a consequence (or corollary) of this theorem. Landmark generalizations include Khintchine's theorem (1924), and Jarnik's theorem (1931). I will explore how these results relate to continued fractions, offering a deeper understanding and enabling us to improve classical approximation results.
